TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The tornado that hit in Rancaekek, Bandung Regency on Friday afternoon, January 11, has displaced 200 people to two different evacuation posts; Al-Muhajirin and Al-Ikhlas Mosques.
Head of Rancaekek sub-district, Baban Banjar, said most of the people did not want to move to the evacuation camps and insisted to stay in their damaged houses. “Those who are affected by minor damage will definitely choose to stay in their own houses,” Baban told Tempo, in evacuation camp on Saturday, January 12.
There is no death casualty in the disaster. Two people are seriously injured and around 100 people suffer minor injuries and they are treated in Al-Islam hospital, Bandung, said Baban.
The tornado has approximately ruined 600 houses, with 150 of them suffer severe damage, and the loss is estimated at around Rp2 to Rp50 millions per-house.
Besides, as a result of the heavy rain, the roads in the residential area are flooded. The non-functioning drainage caused the water overflowing to the roads.
